Welcome!

The Bendelac Lab studies the cell biology and immunology of lipid antigens. Our group focuses on the interactions between NKT cells, a conserved lineage of glycolipid-specific lymphocytes, and CD1, a family of major histocompatibility (MHC)-like molecules that bind various self and microbial lipids in the endosomal compartment for presentation at the plasma membrane. We are part of the Committee on Immunology in the Department of Pathology at the University of Chicago. We are also part of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
